Presentation of the new Festival Strings Lucerne album with Xavier de Maistre. With works by Handel, Guilmant and others.
After a long time, the grand master of the harp, Xavier de Maistre, is finally back: with dazzling solo works from the Baroque and early Romantic periods, from a time when the harp was recognised as a truly royal instrument.
The Festival Strings Lucerne's new album with Xavier de Maistre and music by George Frideric Handel, whose hymn from "Judas Maccabaeus" seems strangely familiar, because we know it as the melody of the Advent hymn "Daughter of Zion, rejoice", is being celebrated.
